Separator Modules

This module can facilitate the extraction step of a recipe. The separation is based on the difference in density. The module is divided into three sections: a mixing section, a settling section, and an overflow section. These sections work together to facilitate the extraction between a heavy phase and a light phase.

Extraction and Membrane separation module

This particular module is designed to continuously separate two immiscible phases, be it liquid/liquid or gas/liquid. When a stream consisting of two distinct phases enters the separator, one of the phases will be attracted to the membrane and fill the pores. This phase is known as the "wetting" phase.

The other phase will be repelled and will not fill the pores and is referred to as the "non-wetting" phase. After the membrane pores become filled with the wetting phase, a pressure differential is applied between the two sides of the membrane.

Extraction column module

This module helps in separating compounds through extraction. Extraction involves using a chemical method to separate compounds based on their relative solubilities in two different immiscible liquids, one heavy phase and one light phase.

The extraction column is made up of an upper decanter, a mixing section (the number may vary depending on process specifications), and a lower settling section. On the top outlet of the column, which is the light phase, there is an additional overflow vessel that serves as a buffer vessel.
